Aerodynamic tempered glass suspension insulators are the core insulation and suspension components of high-voltage/ultra-high-voltage AC and DC transmission lines. They adopt a three-section adhesive assembly structure of "iron cap + tempered glass part + steel foot", and the umbrella plate is designed with a large-diameter aerodynamic streamlined shape (commonly known as "straw hat type"). It features excellent anti-icing, anti-pollution flashover, mechanical load-bearing and electrical insulation performance, making it particularly suitable for the safe operation of lines in high-altitude, heavy ice areas, sandy and polluted environments.

1. Aerodynamic anti-icing and anti-fouling
The large-diameter umbrella plate and streamlined lower surface reduce airflow vortices and local ice accumulation, lowering the risk of ice flash. It is suitable for heavy ice areas (ice thickness ≤20mm).
The smooth glass surface with reasonable edge spacing has strong self-cleaning ability, is easily washed away by rainwater, reduces dirt accumulation and lowers the probability of pollution flaser.
The voltage distribution in series is uniform (with a glass dielectric constant of 7-8 and a large main capacitance), reducing corona and radio interference and enhancing operational stability.
2. Zero value self-destruction and easy maintenance
When insulation fails, the glass parts automatically break (granular, without sharp fragments), which can be directly observed by ground or helicopter without the need to climb a tower to inspect each piece one by one. The annual self-breakage rate is as low as 0.02% - 0.04%.
The tempered internal stress protective layer maintains insulation and mechanical strength even when the surface is burned by an electric arc, and has excellent arc resistance and vibration resistance.
3. High mechanical strength and long service life
The mechanical failure load coverage is 70 to 300kN, the tensile strength is 1 to 2 times that of ordinary porcelain insulators, and it is impact-resistant, shock-proof and anti-brittle fracture.
Glass has excellent chemical stability and is resistant to aging. Its mechanical and electrical performance remains basically unchanged after 35 years of operation, and its lifespan far exceeds that of traditional porcelain insulators.
4. Economy and interchangeability
The head size is small and the weight is light, saving the cost of hardware, transportation and installation. The top/bottom installation dimensions are compatible with those of porcelain insulators of the same grade and can be used interchangeably.
